The greatest movie of all time is Titanic. The movie Titanic is a great movie because it deals with finding true love and happiness in one’s life. It is a classic and romantic movie that induces passion into the audiences. This movie contracts with two different social classes, who fall in love on the maiden journey of the Titanic which makes the movie very interesting and is one of my favorite movies to watch. When the movie Titanic came out in Theatres it was the best selling movies and won eleven academy awards including Best Picture ,which has lead myself to watch it more and buy the movie.
ReplyDeleteThe Titanic was a good movie. I finally watched it this summer. I know, a little late, but I had always refused to watch it because of all the hype. I had friends left and right telling how good it was and how many times they'd gone to theater to watch it. I would tell friends "Why would I watch it? I know how it ends." I will admit now that Titanic was awesome.
DeleteAlthough the movie was long, every moment of it was breathtaking. I've watched many movies with the same theme (the clash of different social classes), however, it was very enjoyable. The ending was extremely depressing because there was a huge number of casualties and the love of the main couple didn't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
DeleteHonestly, this movie is quite interesting. Yes, it's a love story; however, what made it interesting was how all these people who come from different social classes acted towards each other.
DeleteI have to agree it's definetly a classic. The end really keeps you on the edge of your seat. It's crazy to imagine that people really had to go through such a devastating event.
DeleteYes, Titanic is one of the best! I thought of it after I named mine.
DeleteAngelica I totally agree. Titanic is such a beautiful love story that many will enjoy generations from now. It also is displays the cinematic techniques of Director James Cameron that ushers him into director royalty.
DeleteThe greatest movie of all time has to be Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind due to the extreme measures both men and women will go through to forget. In the film we grow with two characters, Joel & Clementine, from the birth of their relationship until the excruciating end. The tormenting memory of their relationship is what drives each other to undergo an ethically questionable medical procedure to erase all memories associated with each other. Although this movie did not break any office box records it is the thought provoking story lines that makes this film the greatest of all time.
ReplyDeleteThe greatest movie of all time has to be the Pursuit of Happyness. I think this has to be the greatest because Will Smith plays a man whose investment of machines goes under and he loses everything he has including his wife. This movie shows the courage of a man, fighting the struggle and taking on the real world and streets just to provide a good life for his son that is struggling with him. The movie was a huge sale but i feel it was an underrated film, not alot of good ratings towards it, but when I watch it, I value the life I have and think things can be worse.
ReplyDeleteThe Pursuit of Happiness truly captures my attention. I will definitely consider watching this interesting movie.
DeleteThis movie is so great! It really makes you think about life, and ones character overall. This movie was very sad but all in all great story.
DeleteThe movie helped me realize that hard work pays off in the long run. I admired the way the main character dedicated his time to preparing for the exam to get the job while facing financial crisis and living in dignity.
DeleteJoel, yes you should def see this movie! it was filmed in my neighborhhod San Fransisco
DeleteI agree!I loved this movie because it was something that many people can relate to- struggling. What was also great about it was that it was based on a real- life story of a man who did everything he could to survive and provide a better life for him and his son. Talk about inspiring!
DeleteI did view this film a few years ago and agree that it encourages you to value life, loved ones, and the beautiful world around us. I might consider watching it again in the near future.
DeleteThe greatest movie of all time is Slumdog Millionaire. Not only did it win multiple awards, it was truly a heart felt movie. Chronicling the events of a poor boy's life in the slums of India, it captures the darkside of the lower- class and their struggles. Seeing children fight and scrape to survive would be hard for many viewers to watch and not get a reaction. I thought this film bought to light issues that some people do face, but are not often talked about. It was definitely an eye opener.
ReplyDeleteSlumdog Millionaire was a great movie! I got sucked into the lives of all the characters. The poverty, child abuse, and oppression made this a heart-felt movie. It is a sad reality with a happy ending.
DeleteThe movie really was an "eye opener." It presented its viewers with a truth that is commonly ignored; which is the fact that poverty is something innumerable people experience. It also portrayed the capability of those in power to manipulate those below them. The scene that most grasped my attention was when a kid was awaken from his sleep in the middle of the night to make him lose his eye sight so he would look pitiful to the public.
DeleteThis is a movie I have heard alot about but have never seen. I am definetly going to consider watching it now. Sounds like a good movie!
DeleteI took a couple Asian Studies class at my previous college and have actually learned a lot about India as a country. The professor had actually recommended the video last spring, but I haven't had the chance to watch the movie. Great to see that others are aware of movies that depicts the poverty of other countries. There are still many countries out there that is going through similar or worse situation. Fortunately, living in the US we do not really have much of the problems these countries are facing. This movie is definitely on my todo list!
DeleteApparently I really need to watch this movie. I remember hearing all the hype when it came out. I guess all have to netflix it.
DeleteI agree! Slumdog Millionaire was a great movie. It opened my eyes to see how some people are just blessed with pure luck.
Deletegreat comments so far. It seems like you are choosing movies that have some similar themes...life, love, hope...you folks are deep!
ReplyDeleteThe greatest movie of all time is, The Notebook. It will make an audience laugh, cry, and fall in love over and over again. The characters in the movie make one desire the type of dedication and devotion to another person, which is expressed throughout the film. Whether or not it appealed to one gender over another, does not matter. It was well produced and directed. The Notebook can be considered a classic love story in the history of films.
ReplyDeleteI agree Nicole! I love how it fills up a woman's craving for a romantic movie. It might not only be for women, I know some men that loved this movie. The story line seems similar to Titanic, which is another great movie of all time. It shows a strong connection between two individuals, that until the end, despite the obstacles that they faced, still found their way back to each other. A story of true love.
DeleteAs a guy let me tell you there's no way of escaping these so called "chick flicks", but it actually was a great movie it shows how love is unconditional and how we work through anything to be with that special person.
DeleteThis movie is one of my all time favorites! I was just absurbed by the storyline. I'm just a sucker for these unconditional love stories.
DeleteThe greatest movie of all time is American History X. I really enjoyed the movie because it deals with change, a good kid becomes a skin head after his father is killed while on duty as a fireman, then begins to blame Americas problems to every race but his own. When he becomes arrested events that occur inside prison opens his eyes and has a change of heart. His best friend ends up being a black inmate and his only support becomes his African American high school principal Although this movie was intense, the over all value was great.
ReplyDeleteAmerican History X was a really good movie, I can honestly say I didn’t enjoy it but I recognize that it was a great movie and powerful. The reason why I didn't like it was because how good it was at manipulating my emotions (hallmark of a great movie). Watching it takes you on a roller coaster of emotions, and opens your eyes to a lot of problems around us. I was born and raised in California, but when I was 18 I joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Florida after boot camp for training. In Florida I met a very good marine who is a good friend to this day, he was African American but being raised in California this didn’t matter one bit, I could honestly say color never was a factor growing up. I watched this movie with him at the base theater once and the theme registered with me but only as something like a distant problem on the fringe of society. Later that week we wanted to go clubbing, find some girls, be young dumb marines and he was turned away from two of the night clubs because of the color of your skin…in 2002! Since then this movie is forever associated with my ignorance of a big problem and a reminder when I see it that the world is often different then how I perceive it. For this and this alone, I don’t like the movie…due to it being a poke in the eye every time.
DeleteNicole, The Notebook sounds like a great movie, I have never watched it but will definately consider it on my to do list for a movie weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe greatest movie of all time is the series of the Harry Potter movies. Not only did the movies do great in the box office, but the books attracted millions. Author J.K Rowling brought a world of fantasy to life, which led the Harry Potter franchise to be the highest grossing film franchise. Not like any other movies ever made Harry Potter kept its audience amazed. For years to come Harry Potter will stay in the hearts of this generation.
ReplyDeleteI love the Harry Potter movies! Even though half the time I do not know what is going on because I have not watched all the movies in order, they still have me hooked. Very entertaining and interesting.
DeleteYes! All the Harry Potter movies were fantastic! from the story, to the characters, effects, everything! I'm not sure if I know of anyone who does NOT like Harry Potter.
DeleteSlumdog Millionair is great film I've seen it multiple times. I am also from India and this movie captures all the struggles kids go through on the streets just to live.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite animated movie is Rango. I almost skipped 'Rango' because I had it confused with 'Rio.' Halfway through 'Rango,' I leaned over to my husband and asked, "When are the birds going to show up?" I was glad that I didn't skip 'Rango.' I've sung its praises at Vanity Fair, Movieline and now here. Admittedly, perhaps it was my less than enthusiastic perception of what 'Rango' was supposed to be that influenced my now ammusement towards animation. I mean, 'Rango' is just so weird. And I love 'Rango' for being this weird, because it certainly didn't have to be this weird. 'Rango' certainly didn't have to include a hallucinatory scene involving Clint Eastwood driving a golf cart, but it did.
ReplyDeleteJessica, I have to agree with you on this one; Rango is very weird. To be honest, I was very excited to see this movie and I left so confused. Some things just didn't make too much sense. The animation was great however!
DeleteYeah, its weird, but if you follow Johnny Depp movies, most of them are very weird. That's what makes them so fantastic. He also does a lot of work with Tim Burton who you can tell is weird just by looking at him. But, yes, some of the best movies are definitely the weird ones that don't make much sense! :)
DeleteThe pusuit of happyness played by Will Smith was definetely a movie that makes you think of the what if's about life and how life happenings can change at the close of an eye.
ReplyDeleteThe greatest movie of all time, definitely is Goal! The dream Begins. In this fascinating movie, the protagonist Santiago Munez, encounters numerous obstacles when trying to fulfill his biggest dream, become a professional soccer player. Poverty, the lack of contacts that could guide him, but especially the lack of moral support from his father, were major impediments throughout the pursuit of his dream. Santiago possessed great abilities to play soccer, showed great passion, and self confidence whenever he confronted his opponents on the field. Additionally, he demonstrated great determination throughout the search of his conquest, and the defeats he experienced helped him grow as a person. In my perspective, this spectacular movie is very inspirational to all of us, especially students, since we can compare the obstacles and sufferings that Santiago faced, with the barriers that many students had experienced in order to fulfill our goal, to become a professional in our field of study.
ReplyDeleteAleda, Slumdog i heard was a great movie, ive never seen it but i am considering i should now! great post!
ReplyDeleteI agree also with Nicole too, the notebook is a very good but sad movie in the end..Really a great movie to see!
ReplyDeleteTonight I watched another great movie with my son, How to Train A Dragon. While watching it, I realized how far children's movies have come at making statements in the form of cartoons. The movie follows Hiccup, the scrawny son of a strong viking, who eventually stops trying to be someone he is not, and ends up saving a community by thinking outside of the box. I watched my four year olds reaction to the story, and his emotions were obvious. I know I have nominated two movies, but I just felt like sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love this movie, for one thing the animals don’t talk, there are plenty of talking animal movies out there and I needed a break from it, and How to Train Your Dragon was just what was needed. The story was fantastic, I got to geek over the different dragons and the characters were pretty fleshed out. The best part though is my son loves this movie more than I do and we watch it often together. I know playing catch, running outside or something else more productive would seem more profound but every minute with my son is a good minute.
DeleteThe greatest movie of all time, would have to be Rudy. I personally am a huge sports fan and love stories of people overcoming obstacles in their life. In the movie Rudy it shows how someone can achieve anything if they put their heart and soul into. Rudy was told throughout his life that he was too small, too slow and that he could never achieve his goal of playing football for Norte Dame. In the end after being on the practice squad for 2 years he finally gets in the game for one play after the crowd was chanting his name. It is truly an inpirational story.
ReplyDeleteLizet, I agree American History X is an extreme movie. But it also shows how people can change and turn their life around
ReplyDeleteFor me, the greatest movie of all time is A Beautiful Mind with Russell Crowe. It came out on 2001 and featured a professor in Princeton, if I'm not mistaken, who suffers from Schizophrenia. Behind his limitless intelligence, he cannot break through the hallucinations that his disease had given him. His mind had become the bridge to his destruction rather than his fame. This movie deserves to be the greatest movie of all time because it shows that behind the unlimited possibilities of human mind, it is not immune to human imperfection.
ReplyDeleteA Beautiful Mind is hands down one of the greatest movies of all time. The story is touching, and the director does a great job of creating an idea of what individuals with schizophrenia experience daily.
DeleteThese are some great entries. Does noone want to go way back to Casablanca or some of those other black and white films?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Delete"Play it again Sam!" Sorry Professor that's all I remember from Casablanca. I'm sure some movie buff would be disappointed to hear this.
DeleteI was assigned to watch Citizen Kane for one of my film arts class and actually enjoyed it!
DeleteJustin Lynch, apparently the choice of movies we choose are both very similar. It draw me much attention your choice since I am also a huge sports fan. Besides, I extremely enjoy watching inspirational movies that leave us extraordinary teachings and simultaneously invite us to keep dreaming, and persevere until we accomplish our goal. Definitely, Rudy is an spectacular movie.
ReplyDeleteThe greatest movie of all time is My Name is Khan. I consider it a great movie because of the given story about a family consist of two brothers and a mother in a middle class society. The youngest has the ability to repair mechanical things. Also the separation between the two brothers as a result of the youngest's talent. How Khan faced a hug discrimination in the United State after the 9/11 attack. I liked the movie because I relate to some of the issues that were stated especially within the U.S society. I was disappointed of peoples' judgments and how far they can go with their perspective based on the event that had occurred which is the 9/11.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say that the greatest movie of all times is Forrest Gump. I can watch the movie over and over and I don't get tired of it. This movie is a comedy, a drama, and a romance film. It is a movie that gives you the best of all worlds. It keeps you laughing, and on your toes while at the same time giving you those moments of sorrow and romance. This film was based on a novel written in 1986 by Winston Groom. The film came out in 1994 and it is about the life of an American from Alabama. The movie follows this naive character through epic moments in his life. From joining the army to losing his mother and the love of his life, this movie is sure one to like.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Movies that get reactions out of people and have depth are the best kind.
DeleteI agree with Forrest Gump being one of the greatest movie. I enjoyed seeing the love that Forrest Gump has for Jenny. He never gives up and he keeps his promises.
DeleteForrest Gump is definitely an awe-inspiring movie. It is one of my favorite older movies. The aspect that really sets Forest Gump aside from other movies is the ability to entertain through countless years. Forest Gump's journey through life is truly moving and inspirational.
DeleteThe greatest movie of all time is "Get Low". It stars Robert DuVall and Bill Murray. I just saw it a few days ago (I rented it free from the library, you can rent movies there for free for up to three weeks) but it was funny and had a plot that applies to everybody's life, death. It also co-stars Sissy Spacek, who also is one of the best actresses of all time. Get Low is based on a "true tall tale" which means that it is a tale with truth to it. It is about hermit who plans a live funeral so that he can hear what people say about his life. I enjoyed it very much. The plot keeps you guessing and it is like a book that you can't put down. I give it five stars and so does another major film critic. I am going to turn it back into the library tomorrow, so it will be available. Also, it is rated PG-13.
ReplyDeletei will for sure consider watching this movie
DeleteThe greatest movie of all time is The Goonies, what’s not to love about a treasure hunt with dead pirates, mix match group of kids and murdering bandits. I watched this movie when I was 9 years old, and many times since and every time it catches and maintains my attention. The backdrop of wet coastlines and woods, of caves, and pirate ships thrilled me as a child. That being said the reason why to me it the greatest movie of all time is because when I watch it nostalgia hits me of my childhood. I suddenly remember what the day was like, how warm and quiet it was, where my parents where and countless other stimuli. For this more than anything else, it is the greatest movie ever made...that and a chubby kid got to be a hero that’s always a plus in my book!
ReplyDeleteI love the Goonies! When I was a kid I watched it constatly.
DeleteI have not watched many movies that i can give the honorable title of greatest movie ever. To avoid having to go back debate with myself about which is the greatest, I will pick from the movies i have recently seen. The best one of those has got to be the girl with the dragon tattoo, that movie and those that will follow it will be some of the best ever. This first movie has a little bit of everything in it. A love interest, violence, a car chase, and some graphic scenes. All these things add up to give the viewer a better understand of why they do what they do. Therefore I appoint girl with the dragon tattoo the greatest.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the American version yet, but the original Swedish version was awesome! Stieg Larson, the author of the book which this movie was based on wrote about female abuse which is a topic worth brought to light. The fact that he added suspense and the other details of great stories was a definite bonus.
DeleteI have to say, I was pleasantly surprised after watching The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo in theaters a few weeks ago. I wasn't to enthralled to see the movie, but my fiance wanted to see it so we went. Let me just say, I was completely entertained the entire (almost three hours) of the movie. I didn't realize how long the movie was until after we got out. I would definitely recommend this movie and encourage those who haven't seen it to see it.
DeleteThe greatest movie of all time is Antichrist by Lars Von Trier. It's an independent film that was released only in Germany despite being english speaking. Antichrist is about a couple who loses their young son and they decide to go out into a cabin in the woods to work through their grief. The main theme is feminism, and the mother coping with her loss through exploration of her own sexuality, which her husband tries to deny. In a sense, it is a psychological thriller, but it has deeper undertones of women's struggles with their own bodies in a male-driven society. The movie is not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach, as it does contain quite a bit of violence and nudity. Although these scenes are shocking, they are not at all gratuitous, and absolutely needed for plot development. Antichrist is dialogue driven but has beautiful cinematography that is very pleasing to the eyes. It's a film that will leave you thinking for days after you watch it.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the greatest movie of all time is Pearl Harbor. This movie tells the story of best friends and pilots, Rafe and Danny as they go to war. This film encompasses both action and romance. The cast includes Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale and Ben Afleck and all three do a phenomenal job in telling the heart wrenching story of a love triangle. I love the fact that this movie is set during WWII and is able to tell the story of what the reality was for many men serving in the military during the 1940's. It is also able to tell the story of love and friendship. When Rafe "dies" fighting overseas, everyone is hurt and when Danny and Evelyn fall for each other it complicates things even more. This movie is well written and is able to hold my attention from beginning to end. Pearl Harbor is one the the greatest movies because it is one that my fiance and I can watch together and both feel as if it was our turn to pick the movie. It tells a story of love, friendship, and truth that few other movies are able to do.
ReplyDeleteYES!! pearl harbor is such a great movie!! very sad and kept me on the edge of my seat
DeleteI agree, it was really intense! It really showed how chaotic the environment was at that time, as well as how the soldiers adapted to every situation.
DeleteThe greatest movies of all time is The Illusionist. This is a very unique love story since it ties in magic, mystery and lots of suspense leaving you wanting more and more. It's about two young kids falling in love, but their love cannot be since the boy is a commoner and the girl is an aristocrat which is like mixing water and oil it just doesn't go. The story unfolds when the young boy meets an old man who teaches him magic and then becomes a magician bringing him back to the town he met his childhood love. They both cross paths at one of his magic shows where he then plots his biggest trick of all time to disappear with the girl he loves. Like every good magician his tricks have an amazing twist at the end making this movie a must see.
ReplyDeleteThis movie is definitely and good one. The actors are top knotch, and the story is always twisting and turning. No time for boredom.
DeleteMy favorite movie of all time is Lady in the Water, directed by M. Night Shyamalan. This brings fairy tale to life when Story, a mermaid-type creature comes to reside in a pool at an apartment complex. As the story unfolds, people at the complex begin to realize that they are all part of the puzzle to help Story return to her land. I have always thrived on fantasy stories, and sometimes wish that I could enter into my own wonderland. Story brings fairy tales and fantasy back into the lives of people who had lost hope, and gives them a sense of purpose.
ReplyDeleteHi, everybody!
ReplyDeleteIn response to this question, I believe the greatest movie of all times would have to be Slumdog Millionaire. Not only is this film inspiring, it has such a heart-warming message. Jamal, the main character of the movie, demonstrates that dreams can come true. With a positive attitude, hard work, and motivation, the reality of a dream can be set. This movie is awesome!
Due to the fact that everyone's likes and dislikes are not the same, I think its really difficult to choose one movie as the greatest movie of all time. In my opinion, I would say that the greatest movie of all time would be Only the Strong. This is a 1993 film that stars Mark Dacascos. The storyline of the movie is about a Special Forces officer (Mark Dacascos) returns home to see his old high school being overtaken by some drug dealers/gang members. The lack of respect for the teachers allows the students to do anything they wish. Mark comes in to teach a bunch of juvenile delinquents some martial arts believing that it will help better their life and future. This movie shows that even the worst of all people can change their life around as long as they make the right decision. This is a great movie to watch, I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who's interested in martial arts.
ReplyDeleteTransformers, the one that started it all. Transformers, with its many facets was and is to this day able to captivate audiences of all walks of life, gender, age and occupation. With its ability to appeal to those individuals craving intense, adrenaline pumping action while simultaneously fulfilling human nature's need for compassion and loyalty, Transformers left an impression in every individual who experienced it. The cutting edge graphics and computer animation bring the animated characters to life and allows the audience to feel emotion toward these individuals as if they were real entities. Not only is Transformers able to ignite feeling and excitement in its audience, it was able to effectively maneuver through critic reviews and become a box office sensation with its release in 2007. Transformers pitted good against evil, awakening the senses of pride and patriotism among its viewers. There is something in transformers for everyone and the compatibility of its many themes sets it apart from those that came before it and to this day from those that have come after. Transformers set a new standard for the movie industry and in doing so inadvertently became the greatest movie of all time.
ReplyDeleteThe greatest movie of all times is A walk in the clouds with Mr.
ReplyDeleteReeves. This movie is a good movie because it deals with family traditions and values. It involves the dream relationship between two people which includes integrity, faithfulness, and love. It is a romantic drama that includes a historical ending. The best part is the final scene when the girl's father loses everything in the fire and he realizes all of his errors and recognizes that everyone can change. This movie can fill our hearts with a lot of emotions, and a fairy tale in the vineyards.
The greatest movies of all time are the series of Harry Potter. The first Harry Potter movie came out when I was in eight grade, after watching the film I became hooked on Harry Potter like many others. It was cool as a kid growing up with Harry Potter, I remember going to see each movie in theaters and being very excited for the next one to come out. The Harry Potter film franchise is the highest grossing film franchise of all time, with eight films released grossing over 7.7 billion worldwide. The story line, effects and characters were amazing which made the movies very easy, interesting and entertaining to watch!
ReplyDeleteSaving Private Ryan is definitely one of the greatest movies of all time. The movie projects a strong picture of what soldiers experience at war and all the aspects surrounded by a war. The story line is deeply moving and brings out strong emotions from audience members.
ReplyDeleteI know this is going to sound pretty cheesy but one of the greatest movies of all is Titanic. I saw this film in the theater when i was nineteen years old and fell in love with it. I think the film portrayed a wonderful love story, the triumph of the human spirit to overcome tragedy, and an important historical event in U.S History. Not to mention the acting was well done and James Cameron created this iconic film that we'll still be watching in 50 years.
ReplyDelete
